SHA-1 Hash Online

SHA-1 is a 160-bit one-way digest. This page hashes with Web Crypto and will brute-force only a tiny search space. It will not decrypt a SHA-1, and you should not use SHA-1 for new security work.

Private by design. SHA-1 runs in this tab via Web Crypto — the input never leaves your device.

How to hash with SHA-1

  1. Type the input. The 40-character hex updates as you type. Compare it against another hex if you have one.
  2. Invert only short strings. The second tab is a local brute-force, max length 4, plus a small dictionary.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can SHA-1 be decrypted?
No. Same rule as every cryptographic hash: you guess inputs, you do not reverse the function.
Is SHA-1 broken?
Collision attacks are practical. Do not use it for signatures or password storage. Fine for a legacy checksum.
Is text uploaded?
No. Web Crypto runs in this tab.
