How to use the free online Teleprompter
- Paste your script. Type or paste your script into the text box. It auto-saves to this browser as you type, so a refresh never loses your draft.
- Adjust the settings. Set font size (24–96px), scroll speed (10–200px/s), left/right margins, and toggle mirror flip if you are using teleprompter glass hardware.
- Start the teleprompter. Click "Start Teleprompter" to enter fullscreen. A 3-2-1 countdown plays before the text begins auto-scrolling upward.
- Control playback while reading. Press Space to play/pause, Up/Down arrows to adjust speed on the fly, tap the screen on mobile to pause, and press Esc to exit back to the editor.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Is my script uploaded or stored anywhere?
- No. Your script never leaves your device — it is saved only in this browser's local storage so a page refresh doesn't lose your draft, and it is never sent to any server.
- Does this app leave my text on a server?
- No. There is no backend involved — the teleprompter runs 100% client-side in JavaScript, and your text stays on your device only.
- What is mirror mode for?
- Mirror mode flips the text horizontally so it reads correctly when reflected off teleprompter glass (a beam-splitter mirror rig mounted in front of a camera lens) — standard setup for professional and DIY teleprompter hardware.
- Can I use this on my phone?
- Yes. Tap anywhere on the fullscreen teleprompter view to play or pause — no keyboard needed. Font size, speed, and margins are all touch-friendly sliders.
- Can I record video while using this?
- Not yet — camera/recording is on our roadmap as a possible future addition, but this version is a pure script-scrolling teleprompter. Pair it with your phone or camera app's own recorder for now.
- What scroll speeds and font sizes are supported?
- Font size ranges from 24px to 96px, and scroll speed ranges from 10 to 200 pixels per second — adjustable live with Up/Down arrow keys while reading.
