Grocery List
Type an item, press Enter, and shop. Check items off as you grab them, rename and reorder on the fly, copy the whole list as plain text to paste anywhere — and your list is still there when you come back, saved right here in your browser.
Your list is empty. Add your first item above — it stays in this browser only.
Add your items
Type in the “Add new item...” box and press Enter (or press Add). Extra spaces are cleaned up automatically, and adding the same item twice is refused — “milk” and “Milk” count as the same thing.
Shop and check off
Tap an item’s checkbox to mark it done — it gets crossed off and the “remaining” count updates. Rename a misspelled item, move rows up or down, or delete one you no longer need.
Share or clear
Press “Copy as text” to put the whole list on your clipboard in a “- [ ] item” checklist format you can paste into any chat or notes app — or press “Download TXT” to save the same list as a grocery-list.txt file on your device. Back from the store? “Clear completed” removes everything you checked off.
Limits and rules at a glance
- Up to 200 items per list; when the list is full the input is disabled until you remove something.
- Each item is at most 200 characters (emoji count as one character); surrounding and repeated spaces are collapsed automatically.
- Duplicate items are rejected case-insensitively; delete or rename the original first if you really want a second entry.
- With “Save in this browser” on (the default), the list is written to this browser’s local storage after every change and reloaded when you return.
- “Checked items at bottom” is a view-only option: it shows unchecked items first without changing the saved order.
Frequently asked questions
- Where is my list stored?
- Only in this browser, using the browser’s own local storage, while “Save in this browser” is on. It is never sent to a server. Turning the option off clears the saved copy, and the list then lasts until you close the tab.
- Does it sync to my phone or another device?
- No. There is no account and no cloud sync — each browser keeps its own list. To move a list, use “Copy as text” (paste it anywhere) or “Download TXT” (open the grocery-list.txt file on another device).
- What does “Copy as text” produce?
- One line per item in list order: unchecked items as “- [ ] item” and checked items as “- [x] item”, joined by line breaks — a plain-text checklist that pastes into messages, notes, or task apps. “Download TXT” saves exactly the same lines as a UTF-8 text file named grocery-list.txt.
- What if the saved list looks wrong or empty?
- If the saved copy is unreadable (for example after manual storage edits), the tool starts a fresh empty list and tells you. Nothing crashes and nothing is uploaded.
- Can I share the list with someone?
- Not through a link — this tool has no share service built in. The clipboard copy and the grocery-list.txt download above are the intended ways to hand the list to someone else, since they work with any app you already use.
Privacy: this list runs entirely in your browser tab. Nothing you type is uploaded to a server; with saving enabled the list is kept in this browser’s local storage only, and it never leaves this device. Some private-browsing modes block local storage — the tool tells you when that happens instead of failing silently.
