Grade Calculator
One weighted calculator for a class or term: add a row per assignment with its grade and weight, in percentages, letter grades (A+ to F) or raw point weights, and get the weighted average — number and letter — plus the grade you still need on a remaining item to reach a target average. Everything runs in this browser tab.
Pick the grade type
Percentage expects weights that add up to 100% (it warns you when they do not). Letters grades each row with a letter dropdown from A+ to F. Points uses raw point weights — hours, credits or points — and divides by their sum.
Fill the rows and press Calculate
The weighted grade is w₁×g₁ + w₂×g₂ + … divided by the total weight. Example: 30% × 80 + 50% × 90 + 20% × 72 = 8,340 ÷ 100 = 83.4 — a B. The result panel prints every term so you can check the arithmetic line by line.
Ask what you still need
Type a target average in the optional field: the grade needed on the remaining weight (100% minus the weights you entered) is (target × 100 − Σ weight×grade) ÷ remaining weight. If it lands above 100% the tool says it is not attainable instead of printing a fake pass, and the final-exam section below answers the same question for a single weighted final.
Letter grades used by this tool
| Letter | Percent value |
|---|---|
| A+ | 100% |
| A | 93% |
| A- | 90% |
| B+ | 87% |
| B | 83% |
| B- | 80% |
| C+ | 77% |
| C | 73% |
| C- | 70% |
| D+ | 67% |
| D | 63% |
| D- | 60% |
| F | 0% |
Letters map to these fixed representative percents (A+ = 100% down to F = 0%), and an average is reported as the highest letter at or below its value. Schools vary — check your syllabus for its own scale.
