How it works: required final exam grade = (target − (100% − weight) × current) ÷ weight; overall class grade = current × (100% − weight) + final exam × weight. Letter grades map to percents with a fixed table anchored at A− = 90%, B− = 80%, C− = 70%. All math runs in this browser tab — nothing is uploaded or stored.
Pick the calculator you need
Top: current grade + target grade + final-exam weight. Middle: the same with letter grades (A+ to F) and an explicit weight split. Bottom: you already sat the final and want your overall class grade.
Press Calculate
The required final-exam grade is (target − (100% − weight) × current) ÷ weight; the overall grade is current × (100% − weight) + final exam × weight. Any field outside 0–100% — or a final weight of 0 where the formula divides by it — gets a plain-language error instead of a result.
Read the answer honestly
Worked example: current 70%, target 80%, final worth 50% → you need 90% (an A−) on the final. If the answer would need more than 100%, the tool says the target is not achievable with that weight instead of printing a fake number.
