Watts to Horsepower Conversion

Enter a power value in watts and press Convert to see the equivalent in mechanical, electrical, and metric horsepower. Every calculation runs in your browser, and each result can be copied with one click.

What this tool does

This tool takes one number, a power value in watts, and converts it to horsepower when you press Convert. Three figures come back: mechanical horsepower in hp(I), electrical horsepower in hp(E), and metric horsepower in hp(M).

The results show up in cards below the button. A card offers Copy, which writes that result and its unit to your clipboard, and Clear resets the form for a new value. All of it happens in your browser. For example, entering 10 gives "Mechanical horsepower: 0.0134102208959503 hp(I); Electrical horsepower: 0.0134048257372654 hp(E); Metric horsepower: 0.013596216173039 hp(M)".

Watts to horsepower formula

Each kind of horsepower is defined as a fixed number of watts, so the conversion divides the watt value by that number to get the result. Mechanical, electrical, and metric horsepower use different watt values, which is why one input gives three close figures.

The worked rows follow this rule: 10 W ≈ 0.0134102208959503 hp(I) and 1000 W ≈ 1.34102208959503 hp(I).
