Volts to Millivolts Conversion
Volts and millivolts measure the same electrical potential, and one volt holds exactly 1000 millivolts. Type a voltage in volts, press Convert, and read the answer in millivolts.
How to convert volts to millivolts
The volt is the larger of the two units, so a voltage written in volts always turns into a bigger number when it is written in millivolts. The milli- prefix stands for one thousandth, which means 1 V is equal to 1000 mV and, going the other way, 1 mV is equal to 0.001 V.
Multiply the voltage in volts by 1000 to get the voltage in millivolts. Three volts becomes 3 x 1000 = 3000 mV, while smaller signals follow the same rule: 0.1 V is 100 mV, 0.01 V is 10 mV and 0.001 V is 1 mV.
Once the result is on screen you can press Copy to keep it, or Clear to enter a different voltage.
Volts to millivolts formula
V(mV) = V(V) x 1000. The voltage in millivolts equals the voltage in volts multiplied by 1000, so a 3 V reading gives 3 V x 1000 = 3000 mV.
To reverse it, divide the millivolt figure by 1000: since 1 mV is 0.001 V, a reading of 2500 mV works out to 2.5 V.
| Volts (V) | Millivolts (mV) |
|---|---|
| 0 V | 0 mV |
| 0.001 V | 1 mV |
| 0.01 V | 10 mV |
| 0.1 V | 100 mV |
| 1 V | 1000 mV |
