Simple Calculator

One field and one button: write an expression such as 5 + 3 + 12.5 and press = to see the answer. Everything is worked out in your own browser.

What this calculator does

The form has a single field, Expression, and a single button, =. Type the whole sum into that field and press = to work it out. The answer appears in a card below the button, as in 5 + 3 + 12.5 = 20.5.

Each result card has a Copy action, which writes the shown result to the clipboard, and Clear resets the form so you can start a fresh expression.

Operators used in the examples

A chain of subtractions runs straight through: 12.5 - 5 - 3 = 4.5. Division can come out uneven, and that answer is marked with an approximation sign: 5 ÷ 3 ≈ 1.66666666666667.

Percent and powers are written inside the expression itself: 30% × 200 = 60 and 2^8 = 256.

Order of operations formula

A mixed expression is read in a fixed order: operations inside brackets come first, then multiplication and division, and addition and subtraction last.

In chains of addition or subtraction, operations run from left to right, as in 5 + 3 + 12.5 = 20.5 and 12.5 - 5 - 3 = 4.5. Multiplication and division are worked directly, as in 5 × 3 = 15 and 5 ÷ 3 ≈ 1.66666666666667.
