Screen Recorder
Record your screen or a single browser tab right in the page, preview the result, and save it as a WebM video file. The whole recording stays in your browser — nothing is uploaded, and there is nothing to install.
Recording stays in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
Choose what to capture
Keep "Record video from screen" on, and toggle "Record audio from screen" if you want the tab’s audio track in the recording. Both options apply the next time you press Record.
Record, then stop
Press Record and pick the window, screen, or browser tab in the browser’s "Share your screen" dialog, then press Share. Press Stop here — or the browser’s own Stop sharing button — when you are done.
Preview and save
Play back the take in the preview, type a file name (default: screen-record), and press "Save to Downloads folder" to download the recording as a .webm file.
How browser screen recording works
- Does the recording leave my device?
- No. The capture runs on the browser’s native screen-capture API and the file is assembled and saved locally. This page never uploads your recording anywhere.
- What format is the file?
- WebM (typically VP8/VP9 video with Opus audio) — the format browsers encode screen recordings in. Safari builds that cannot emit WebM fall back to MP4, and the file extension follows the actual format.
- Why is there no audio in my recording?
- Display-audio capture depends on the browser and what you share: audio can usually be captured when a single Chrome or Edge tab is shared, while whole-screen or window shares and Firefox may not provide an audio track. If the browser cannot deliver audio, the recording continues video-only instead of failing.
- Nothing happens when I press Record.
- Screen recording needs a desktop browser that supports the capture dialog (recent Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari) and your explicit permission in the "Share your screen" picker. If you cancel the dialog or deny permission, nothing is recorded and you can simply press Record again. On unsupported browsers the page shows a banner explaining this.
- Can I edit or trim the recording?
- This tool records and saves only — the preview player lets you check the take before downloading. Trim or convert the saved .webm with any video editor.
Terms of use: This tool should be used with non-copyrighted content, for personal use only.
Privacy: screen capture only starts after you grant permission in your browser’s own dialog, and the recording is assembled and saved in this browser tab. No frames, audio, or files are uploaded to a server.
