Scientific Calculator

A full scientific calculator that runs entirely in your browser. Build an expression by typing or tapping the keypad — addition, subtraction, multiplication (×), division (÷), powers (xʸ), roots (√ and n√), logarithms (log, ln), trigonometry (sin, cos, tan, sin⁻¹, cos⁻¹, tan⁻¹) in degrees or radians, factorial (n!), percent, constants π and e — then press = to get the result up to 14 significant digits, with Ans and a running history.

STEP 1

Build the expression

Type into the expression line or tap the keypad, e.g. 5 + 3 + 12.5, 2^8, 30% × 200, or sin(90). Parentheses group sub-expressions, × and ÷ sit on the keypad, and √ and n√ insert a ready-to-fill function. The caret position decides where each key inserts.

STEP 2

Pick degrees or radians first

Deg is the default, so sin(90) = 1 and sin(180) = 0. Switch to Rad and the same sin(90) reads 0.89399666360056 because the argument is radians. Inverse trig results convert back to the active unit (atan(1) = 45 in Deg).

STEP 3

Press = and keep going with Ans

The result appears in the expression line (up to 14 significant digits, e.g. 5 ÷ 3 = 1.6666666666667) and is appended to the history with thousands separators. Press Ans to reuse it: 41, then + Ans = gives 82. Copy sends the current line to your clipboard; Clear history empties the panel.

How the scientific calculator works

Worked examples
5 + 3 + 12.5 = 20.5 · 12.5 − 5 − 3 = 4.5 · 5 × 3 = 15 · 5 ÷ 3 = 1.6666666666667 · 30% × 200 = 60 · 200 + 50% = 200.5 · 2^8 = 256 · √(64) = 8 · log(100) = 2 (common logarithm) · ln(e) = 1 (natural logarithm) · sin(90) = 1 in degrees.
Percent, powers and factorial
A trailing % divides by 100, so 30% × 200 = 0.3 × 200 = 60, while % between two numbers is the modulo operator (30 % 4 = 2). Powers are written with ^ and are right-associative (2^3^2 = 512); −2^2 = −4 because exponentiation binds tighter than the minus sign. n! computes the factorial of a non-negative integer (5! = 120).
How are errors reported?
An expression that cannot be parsed (an empty line, 5 +* 3, unbalanced parentheses, square root of a negative number, 0 ÷ 0) replaces the expression line with "Syntax error !" and writes nothing to history — the stale result is always cleared. Dividing a non-zero number by zero shows "undefined (division by zero)" in the history and empties the line, so a misleading "Infinity" never appears.
How many digits does a result show?
Results are rounded to 14 significant digits with automatic switching: values from 0.000001 up to 999,999,999,999 print in fixed notation (1,000,000 style separators in the history), and anything smaller than 10⁻⁶ or at least 10¹² prints in scientific notation, e.g. 2^45 = 3.5184372088832e+13.
Is my work saved?
The expression line and history are kept in your browser tab and restored when you revisit, using this site's local storage only — nothing is uploaded. Clear history empties the panel, and a full page reload after you left starts from your saved session.
