What this tool does

The form has ten number fields: Milliwatts, Watts, Kilowatts, Megawatts, Gigawatts, dBm, dBW, Horsepower (mechanic), Horsepower (electric) and BTU/hr. Type a value into one field and press the Convert button; the form computes only when the button is pressed, and the results appear in cards below it.

Each result offers a Copy action that writes the value and its unit to the clipboard, and Clear resets the form. Every calculation runs in the browser and nothing is uploaded.

Power conversion formula

dBm and dBW are decibel levels referred to 1 mW and 1 W. Entering dBm: 20 returns Milliwatts: 100 mW; Watts: 0.1 W; Kilowatts: 0.0001 kW; Megawatts: 0.0000001 MW, following P(mW) = 1 mW × 10^(20 / 10) = 100 mW. Entering dBW: 20 follows the same rule on the 1 W base: P(W) = 1 W × 10^(20 / 10) = 100 W.

The other units line up as the results show: 100 W = 100000 mW = 50 dBm. The two horsepower units follow 1 hp(I) = 745.69987158227022 W and 1 hp(E) = 746 W.
