Percent to Fraction Conversion

Reading the conversion table

The table pairs common percents with their fractions: 50% goes with 1/2, 25% with 1/4, 75% with 3/4 and 20% with 1/5. The remaining rows follow the same pattern, listing 12.5% with 1/8, 10% with 1/10, 1% with 1/100 and 150% with 3/2.

A value that is not a whole number above 100% is shown as a mixed number.

Percent to fraction formula

fraction = percent ÷ 100, then reduce.

That is the whole calculation. Dividing the percent by 100 and reducing is what links each left-hand entry in the table to the fraction beside it, such as 25% and 1/4 or 75% and 3/4.

The arithmetic is exact, so the fraction you see is not a rounded stand-in.
