Microcoulombs to Coulombs Conversion
Electric charge written in microcoulombs is turned into coulombs by dividing by 1000000, since 1 µC equals 0.000001 C. Type an amount and press Convert to see the charge in coulombs.
Two units of electric charge
The coulomb (C) and the microcoulomb (µC) both measure electric charge. A microcoulomb is the smaller of the two: exactly one millionth of a coulomb, so 1 µC = 0.000001 C and, going the other way, 1 C = 1000000 µC.
Small capacitors and static charges are often quoted in microcoulombs because a whole coulomb is a large amount of charge. Dividing by 1000000 moves the number onto the coulomb scale without changing the charge itself.
Microcoulombs to coulombs formula
The charge in coulombs Q(C) equals the charge in microcoulombs Q(µC) divided by 1000000:
Q(C) = Q(µC) / 1000000
For example, a charge of 3 microcoulombs works out as 3 µC / 1000000 = 0.000003 C. To go back, multiply the coulomb value by 1000000 to get microcoulombs.
| Charge (microcoulomb) | Charge (coulomb) |
|---|---|
| 0 µC | 0 C |
| 1 µC | 0.000001 C |
| 10 µC | 0.00001 C |
| 100 µC | 0.0001 C |
| 1000 µC | 0.001 C |
| 10000 µC | 0.01 C |
| 100000 µC | 0.1 C |
| 1000000 µC | 1 C |
