Megavolts to Volts Conversion
A megavolt is one million volts, so moving from megavolts to volts takes a single multiplication. Type the amount in MV, press Convert, and read the result in volts.
About the megavolt
Voltage can be written in volts (V) or, when the figures get very large, in megavolts (MV). The prefix mega means one million, so one megavolt is exactly one million volts: 1 MV = 1000000 V.
The reverse relationship follows from the same factor. One volt is a millionth of a megavolt, which can be written as 1 V = 0.000001 MV. Any reading can be moved between the two units by multiplying or dividing by 1000000.
Megavolts to volts formula
The voltage V in volts is equal to the voltage V in megavolts multiplied by 1000000: V (V) = V (MV) x 1000000. In practice that means sliding the decimal point six places to the right.
As an example, converting 3 megavolts goes like this: V (V) = 3 MV x 1000000 = 3000000 V. To go the other way, from volts to megavolts, divide the volt value by 1000000 instead.
| Megavolts (MV) | Volts (V) |
