Kilowatts to Watts Conversion
Kilowatts and watts are two scales for the same quantity, power. To go from kilowatts to watts, multiply by 1000.
About this converter
The kilo- prefix means one thousand, so a single kilowatt is exactly 1000 watts. That makes this conversion a plain multiplication by 1000, with no rounding and no lookup tables involved.
Type a power value in kilowatts into the input field and press Convert to see the matching figure in watts. Copy keeps the result on your clipboard for a document or spec sheet, and Clear resets the field so you can run the next number.
Power ratings get published in either unit, so being able to move between them lets you line up a figure stated in kilowatts with one stated in watts.
Kilowatts to watts formula
Power in watts equals power in kilowatts multiplied by 1000:
P(W) = 1000 × P(kW)
For example, a load rated at 1.3 kilowatts works out to 1000 × 1.3 = 1300 watts. Going the other way is the inverse move: divide the watt value by 1000 to express it in kilowatts.
| Power (kilowatts) | Power (watts) |
|---|---|
| 0 kW | 0 W |
| 0.001 kW | 1 W |
| 0.01 kW | 10 W |
| 0.1 kW | 100 W |
| 1 kW | 1000 W |
| 10 kW | 10000 W |
| 100 kW | 100000 W |
| 1000 kW | 1000000 W |
