Kilowatts to Milliwatts Conversion
One kilowatt is one million milliwatts, so a power stated in kW becomes a power in mW through a single multiplication by 1000000. Enter a value below, press Convert, and the matching figure in milliwatts appears.
How to convert kilowatts to milliwatts
Because 1 kW equals 1000000 mW, the whole conversion is one multiplication: take the power in kilowatts and multiply it by 1000000. Nothing else has to be adjusted, and no intermediate unit is needed.
Type the power in kilowatts into the field, press Convert, and the result is shown in milliwatts. Copy keeps the number for reuse and Clear empties the field so you can try another value.
kW to mW formula
P (mW) = 1000000 x P (kW). The power on the left side is measured in milliwatts, the power on the right side in kilowatts.
Worked example: converting 1.3 kilowatts gives P (mW) = 1000000 x 1.3 = 1300000 milliwatts.
Reading the numbers
A kilowatt is the much larger unit, so any kW figure turns into a far bigger number once it is written in milliwatts. The same relationship read backwards explains the smallest entry in the table: 0.000001 kW and 1 mW describe one and the same power.
| Power (kW) | Power (mW) |
|---|---|
| 0.000001 kW | 1 mW |
| 0.00001 kW | 10 mW |
| 0.0001 kW | 100 mW |
| 0.001 kW | 1000 mW |
| 0.01 kW | 10000 mW |
| 0.1 kW | 100000 mW |
| 0.5 kW | 500000 mW |
| 1 kW | 1000000 mW |
| 2 kW | 2000000 mW |
| 5 kW | 5000000 mW |
