Kilohertz to Gigahertz
Type a frequency in kilohertz and press Convert to get the same frequency expressed in gigahertz. One kilohertz is 0.000001 gigahertz, so the gigahertz figure is always the kilohertz figure divided by 1000000.
About this converter
Kilohertz and gigahertz are both units of frequency, and gigahertz sits a great deal higher on the scale than kilohertz. That means a frequency written in kilohertz turns into a very small number once it is written in gigahertz.
Enter the frequency in kilohertz, press the Convert button, and the result appears in gigahertz. If you need the reverse direction, work it the other way round: one gigahertz is equal to 1000000 kilohertz.
kHz to GHz formula
The frequency f in gigahertz (GHz) is equal to the frequency f in kilohertz (kHz) divided by 1000000:
f(GHz) = f(kHz) / 1000000
Equivalently, 1 kHz = 0.000001 GHz, or 1 GHz = 1000000 kHz.
Worked example
To convert 3 kilohertz to gigahertz, divide by 1000000: f(GHz) = 3 kHz / 1000000 = 0.000003 GHz.
The same arithmetic applies to any value, which is why the reference table below simply shifts the decimal point six places to the left.
| Kilohertz (kHz) | Gigahertz (GHz) |
|---|---|
| 0 kHz | 0 GHz |
| 1 kHz | 0.000001 GHz |
| 10 kHz | 0.00001 GHz |
| 100 kHz | 0.0001 GHz |
| 1000 kHz | 0.001 GHz |
| 10000 kHz | 0.01 GHz |
| 100000 kHz | 0.1 GHz |
| 1000000 kHz | 1 GHz |
