keV to eV Converter
A kiloelectron-volt is a thousand electron-volts, so moving between the two energy units only takes a multiplication by 1000. Type an amount in keV, press Convert, and the same energy expressed in eV appears right away.
About the keV to eV conversion
Kiloelectron-volts (keV) and electron-volts (eV) are both units of energy, and the kilo- prefix means the single thing that separates them: one kiloelectron-volt is equal to 1000 electron-volts.
Because the step between the units is a fixed factor of 1000, the number written in eV is always one thousand times larger than the number written in keV for the very same amount of energy. Going the other way, from electron-volts back to kiloelectron-volts, you divide by 1000 instead.
Small figures are common on the keV side of this conversion. The reference table below starts at 0.001 keV, which is just 1 eV, and runs up through 100 keV, or 100000 eV.
keV to eV formula
The energy in electron-volts equals the energy in kiloelectron-volts multiplied by 1000:
E(eV) = E(keV) x 1000
For example, to change 5 keV into eV, multiply 5 by 1000, which gives 5000 eV. Every result this calculator produces comes from that same product, so you can check any figure in your head by shifting the decimal point three places.
