Kilocalories to Calories

What this converter does

It turns kilocalories into calories. There is one number field for the kilocalorie amount and a select for the kind of unit: Small calories, 1000 cal per kcal, or Large/food calories, 1 Cal per kcal.

Kilocalories to calories formula

For small calories, multiply the kilocalories by 1000, since 1 kcal = 1000 cal. Taking rows from the table, 5 kcal is 5000 cal and 100 kcal is 100000 cal.

For large or food calories the factor is 1 Cal per kcal, so the food-calorie figure matches the kilocalorie figure: 1 kcal = 1 Cal.

The same facts work in reverse: 1000 small calories make 1 kcal, and 1 food calorie is 1 kcal.
