Hertz to Megahertz Conversion
A megahertz is one million hertz, so changing hertz into megahertz means dividing by 1000000. Type a frequency in hertz, press Convert, and the megahertz figure appears right away.
How to convert hertz to megahertz
The two units are tied together by a factor of one million: 1 Hz = 0.000001 MHz, and in the other direction 1 MHz = 1000000 Hz. Any frequency stated in hertz therefore becomes megahertz once you divide it by 1000000.
Type the number into the field, press Convert, and read the outcome next to the MHz label. Copy puts the answer on your clipboard and Clear wipes the field so you can try another value.
What the numbers look like
Because you are dividing by such a large number, ordinary hertz values shrink into small fractions of a megahertz: 1 Hz is 0.000001 MHz, 100 Hz is 0.0001 MHz, and 100000 Hz is 0.1 MHz.
Only once you reach 1000000 Hz does the reading climb to a full 1 MHz, which is a quick sanity check that you applied the factor correctly.
Hz to MHz formula
To get megahertz, divide the hertz value by 1000000: f(MHz) = f(Hz) / 1000000.
As an example, 300 hertz works out to 300 / 1000000 = 0.0003 MHz.
| Hertz (Hz) | Megahertz (MHz) |
|---|---|
| 0 Hz | 0 MHz |
| 1 Hz | 0.000001 MHz |
| 10 Hz | 0.00001 MHz |
| 100 Hz | 0.0001 MHz |
| 1000 Hz | 0.001 MHz |
| 10000 Hz | 0.01 MHz |
| 100000 Hz | 0.1 MHz |
| 1000000 Hz | 1 MHz |
