Hertz to Kilohertz Conversion
Enter a frequency in hertz and press Convert to get the same frequency in kilohertz. One hertz equals 0.001 kilohertz, so a hertz is one thousandth of a kilohertz.
How to convert hertz to kilohertz
Type the frequency in hertz into the input box and press Convert. The result appears in kilohertz right away, because 1 Hz = 0.001 kHz and 1 kHz = 1000 Hz.
Press Copy to keep the kilohertz figure for later use, or Clear to wipe the field and start another frequency from scratch.
Hz to kHz formula
A frequency f expressed in kilohertz equals the frequency in hertz divided by 1000: f(kHz) = f(Hz) / 1000.
For example, converting 300 hertz: 300 Hz / 1000 = 0.3 kHz. Going the other way works from the same relationship: 1 kHz = 1000 Hz, so a kilohertz value multiplied by 1000 gives hertz again.
Reading the conversion table
The table below lists round hertz values beside their kilohertz equivalents, which is a fast way to sanity-check a result: every row moves the decimal point three places to the left.
| Hertz (Hz) | Kilohertz (kHz) |
|---|---|
| 0 Hz | 0 kHz |
| 1 Hz | 0.001 kHz |
| 10 Hz | 0.01 kHz |
| 100 Hz | 0.1 kHz |
| 1000 Hz | 1 kHz |
