GPA to Letter Grade Calculator
Convert a GPA to its letter grade on the 4.33 scale. Enter any GPA between 0.00 and 4.33, press Calculate, and read the matching letter grade from A+ down to F — with the full GPA, letter grade and percentage conversion table. Everything runs locally in your browser.
Enter your GPA
Type your grade point average on the 4.33 scale — for example 3.33 or 4.00. Valid values are 0 to 4.33; anything outside that range shows an error instead of a grade.
Press Calculate
The letter grade matching your GPA appears next to "Letter grade:". A GPA exactly on the table (e.g. 2.00) takes that row; a value between rows takes the nearest GPA, and an exact midpoint goes to the higher letter.
Check the table or reset
Open the conversion table below the calculator to see the GPA, letter grade and percentage range of every row, with your result highlighted. Press Reset to clear the GPA and the result and start over.

GPA to letter grade questions
- What scale does this converter use?
- The 4.33 scale, where A+ = 4.33 is the highest grade point and F = 0 the lowest, with 1/3-point steps: 4.33, 4.00, 3.67, 3.33, 3.00, 2.67, 2.33, 2.00, 1.67, 1.33, 1.00, 0.67, 0. Some schools use a 4.0 scale where A = A+ = 4.0 — check your school's grading policy.
- What letter grade is a 3.3 GPA?
- On the 4.33 scale, 3.33 GPA equals B+ (87%–89%). A GPA of 3.30 is closer to 3.33 than to 3.00, so it also converts to B+. A GPA of 3.10 is closer to 3.00, so it converts to B.
- How are values between table rows handled?
- Your GPA is matched to the nearest GPA value in the table; an exact midpoint between two rows goes to the higher letter grade. For example, 4.165 sits exactly between 4.00 (A) and 4.33 (A+) and converts to A+.
- Is a 4.0 GPA an A or an A+?
- An A. On the 4.33 scale A = 4.00 (93%–96%) and A+ = 4.33 (97%–100%). A 4.0 is exactly the A row, so the calculator returns A.
- What GPA do you need for an A-?
- An A- is 3.67 on this scale (90%–92%). GPAs closer to 3.67 than to 3.33 or 4.00 (roughly 3.50 to 3.83) convert to A-; exact midpoints go to the higher grade.
