Binary to Text Translator

Type or paste binary byte values and get readable text back. Bytes may be separated by spaces or commas or run together, and a character encoding select decides how they are read.

What this tool does

It decodes binary byte values into text. You work with two controls: a text field for the 0s and 1s, and a character encoding select offering ASCII, UTF-8, UTF-16 little endian, and UTF-16 big endian. Inside the text field, bytes can be separated by spaces or by commas, or simply run together.

Nothing is decoded until you press Convert, and the result appears in a card below the button. Copy writes the result to the clipboard and Clear resets the form. The whole conversion happens in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.

Binary byte value to character formula

In ASCII, one byte stands for one character, and the codes it covers run from 0 to 127. In the table of ASCII characters and their byte values, the byte 01000001 stands for A, and the byte 00110000 stands for the digit 0.

UTF-8 uses one to four bytes. No encoding beyond the choices named in the select is handled here, so pick the one that matches how your bytes were written.
