Bar Graph Maker

Draw a bar graph from values you type in: 1 to 7 bar series, a chart title, titles for the horizontal and vertical axis, a number format, and a linear or log scale for each axis. Press Draw to build the chart, then download it as a PNG image.

Entering your data

Each bar series has a name and a list of values, and the chart can hold anywhere from 1 to 7 series. Values for one series are entered as labels and values, or as a range.

Separate the values with spaces or commas. If you type an underscore inside a label, it is shown as a space on the chart.

Chart and axis options

Give the chart a title, and give the horizontal and vertical axis titles of your own. The number format decides how the values on the axis are written out.

Each axis can be set to a linear scale or a log scale on its own, so one axis can be stretched while the other stays even. You also choose where the legend sits.

Linear and log scale formula

On a linear axis the bars are placed by the value itself, so twice the value is twice the height and equal steps on the axis are equal differences.

On a log axis the bars are placed by the logarithm of the value, so equal steps on the axis are equal factors instead of equal differences. That spreads the small values apart and pulls the large values closer together, which is useful when one bar towers over the rest.

Drawing, saving and clearing

The chart is not built until you press Draw. It is built in your own browser, and nothing is uploaded.

Save PNG downloads the finished chart as an image file you can drop into a document or slide. Clear puts the sample data back so you can start again from the beginning.
