Text to Binary Converter

Type the text you want encoded and press Convert to get the binary value of each character. You choose the character encoding and the delimiter that sits between the values.

What the converter does

The form has three choices. A text field holds the words you want encoded, a character encoding select offers ASCII, UTF-8, UTF-16 little endian and UTF-16 big endian, and a delimiter select offers a space, a comma, or none.

Nothing is worked out until you press Convert. The result then appears in a card below the button, where Copy writes it to the clipboard and Clear resets the form.

The character-to-byte formula

ASCII gives one byte to each character for codes 0-127, so one character lines up with one value. In the table the letter A is 01000001 and the digit 0 is 00110000, and each value is written as eight binary digits.

Small letters keep their own values: a is 01100001 and z is 01111010. Punctuation follows the same pattern, with ! as 00100001 and ? as 00111111.

UTF-8 uses one to four bytes, so a single character can take more than one value. Whichever delimiter you picked is what separates those values in the result.
