Ampere-hours to Milliampere-hours Conversion
Enter a charge in ampere-hours and press Convert to see the same charge expressed in milliampere-hours. One ampere-hour equals 1000 milliampere-hours, so the milliampere-hour figure is always 1000 times larger.
About the Ah to mAh conversion
Ampere-hours (Ah) and milliampere-hours (mAh) are both units of electric charge, the amount of current flowing over a period of time. The milliampere-hour is the smaller of the two, so the same charge written in milliampere-hours is a much bigger number than when it is written in ampere-hours.
The prefix milli- means one thousandth, which gives the pair of identities 1 mAh = 0.001 Ah and, equivalently, 1 Ah = 1000 mAh. Small cells and phone packs are usually rated in mAh while larger batteries are rated in Ah, so moving between the two units comes down to a single multiplication by 1000.
Ah to mAh formula
The charge in milliampere-hours, Q(mAh), equals the charge in ampere-hours, Q(Ah), multiplied by 1000: Q(mAh) = Q(Ah) x 1000.
For example, converting 3 ampere-hours gives Q(mAh) = 3 Ah x 1000 = 3000 mAh. Going the other way, divide by 1000: a 2500 mAh pack holds 2.5 Ah.
