How to play

  1. Ten words from the day's theme are hidden in the 12×12 letter grid.
  2. Drag from the first letter to the last to claim a word — on a phone, one finger; on a desktop, click and drag.
  3. Words run across, down and diagonally, in either direction. A backwards drag is a legal find.
  4. No keyboard-free device? Click the grid, move with the arrow keys, and press Enter at the start and end of the word.
  5. Clear all ten to stop the clock, extend your streak, and share your time. The daily grid resets at 00:00 UTC.

How the grid is built

Ten words are placed first, overlapping wherever their letters agree, then every remaining square is filled with a random letter. That fill is then swept in all eight directions and re-rolled until it spells no additional word from the bank — so the ten words on the list are the only ten words in the grid, and a run you spot is a run that counts.
